LUNENBURG - Senator Jennifer L. Flanagan (D-Leominster) and Representative Jennifer E. Benson (D-Lunenburg) will announce the completion of the $1.7 million dollar renovation project at the Pearl Brook Senior Housing located on White Street in Lunenburg at an open house in the community room at 3pm on Thursday October 20, 2011.

Pearl Brook apartments is owned by the Lunenburg Housing Authority. Renovations included new porches, concrete patios, railings, heating system, roofing, walkways, gutters, building exterior coating, fire protection (including new sprinklers and alarm systems) and two new fully accessible handicapped units. Renovations would not have happened without the full cooperation of a number of stakeholders: The Patrick Administration, through the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development, provided most of the funding and overall guidance. The Lunenburg Selectmen helped immensely by waiving the permit fees. The residents cooperated fully during the renovation process; the management through the Leominster Housing Authority saw that the work was completed as planned. These renovations, along with other management improvements, have helped to provide long term financial stability to this once troubled housing agency.
