State Senator Jennifer L. Flanagan (D-Leominster) has received committee assignments for the 2009-2010 Legislative Session from Senate President Therese Murray (D-Plymouth).

Senator Flanagan will serve as Chairman of the Joint Committee on Mental Health & Substance Abuse and will service as Vice-Chairman of the Joint Committee on Transportation. Senator Flanagan will also serve on the following committees: Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities, Joint Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture, Joint Committee on Elder Affairs, Joint Committee on Public Health.

“I am thrilled and very thankful to the Senate President for recognizing the importance these committee assignments will have for my District. Being appointed as the Chairman of the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Committee is a great honor; these are issues I have worked hard on and have a background in. I am also most pleased with being appointed the Vice-Chair of the Transportation Committee. I was very fortunate to serve on this Committee in the House and was able to foster a great relationship with both Chairmen. We have several transportation issues that are very important to us in North Central Mass. I look forward to working with my colleagues in both the Senate and the House on the important issues that will come before these committees”, said Flanagan.
